WhatsApp groups can be very effective for hosting training, webinar, or just group discussions.

And It’s easy to think that they’re a no-brainer.

You know, add people, name the group, post your messages and keep it moving.

But no. It can get messy if not properly handled.

___

You need to be intentional if you would have an engaging and functional WhatsApp group.

Let’s look at some tips below:

  • Notify participants before adding them to the WhatsApp group.

  • Set ground rules & expectations. It sets the tone of engagement and creates an atmosphere of respect.

  • Schedule discussions. If you want people to engage, give them time to put it on their calendars.

  • Schedule times when the chat will be open for everyone.

  • When it’s time for a training session, or on days the group isn’t active, set admin rules to disable participants from sending messages.

  • Also, set admin rules for who can change the group info; group name, profile picture, and description.

  • Encourage participants to use the reply feature when discussing. So messages don’t get lost in between, and it’s easier to follow the message trail.

  • Encourage participants to respond to messages they have read. There’s now an emoji reaction feature, so they don’t have to type a response every time except it is necessary.

___

Now go forth and create those WhatsApp groups with confidence.
